Insignia Whippets

Located in Jarvis, Ontario, Insignia Whippets is a small, selective and ethical breeder of quality Whippets where health and temperament are paramount.  

My name is Kate Solomon and I entered the world of purebred dogs at the tender age of 11, when my family purchased our first show prospect.  With the acquisition of a lovely black and rust Doberman Pinscher, we were launched into the world of dog shows. 

At one of the first dog shows attended, I remember seeing a Whippet and knew in an instant that Whippets were 'it' for me.  I had the opportunity to show a few Whippets in junior handling and even put the final championship points on my high school Biology teacher's Whippet.  More than thirty years later, while we still share our home with a Doberman, Whippets have become the breed of choice.  

The art of breeding beautiful purebred dogs always, initially, depends on the advice and guidance of those who come before us. Thank you, Jenny McCartney, of McCartney Whippets, for mentoring and teaching me about my chosen breed. Jenny has encouraged me with a stellar foundation that I can build on in the future. With more than 40 years of breed experience, I am honoured to be her student.
